TEAM APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

Be a part of discipling a generation.

Soft Nature Minimalist Customer Testimon

We not only care about training you up to be an effective leader but more importantly we care about investing in you as a person and your relationship with the Lord. Whether it’s through providing you with your own mentor, an optional annual silent retreat or opportunities for you to grow in your gifts, we seek to help you enter the next level of your own discipleship journey.

Being on theASCENT team is a unique opportunity for young adults. Many of us who have been involved in ministry have experienced doing one-off events or missions but theASCENT offers something different - the opportunity to journey with and accompany the same group of young people over an extended period of time. Through theASCENT you will get to share in the lives of an amazing group of young people and invest into the next generation, while all the time receiving investment yourself.

Soft Nature Minimalist Customer Testimon

The other great benefit with theASCENT is that it is hugely flexible alongside your day to day life - other than the three residential weekends a year on which you would serve, all small group leading and mentoring occurs online, so if you finish uni, change jobs or move locations you can still continue discipling the same group of young people remotely. Pope Francis says Mission is inseparable from discipleship - theASCENT hits the sweet spot with both! So why not consider applying to be on a team? â€‹

TWO WAYS TO JOIN

DISCIPLESHIP TEAM

This is for those who can commit to three years.  Each year we take on a number of new team members who, after a period of training, are equipped to accompany a cohort of young people for three years.

WIDER TEAM

This is for those who can only commit one year at a time) We also have a complementary Wider Team, who are responsible for planning and facilitating the weekend retreats and other events - including logistics, leading worship, organising social times, the prayer room, and teaching. This enables the Discipleship Team to focus primarily on loving and leading the young people they're journeying with.

What does it take to be on team?

By God’s grace, each team member on theASCENT is striving for holiness in every aspect of their lives. The reality is that you can’t give what you haven’t got, so in order that we’re ministering from a place of integrity and can have impact, someone who applies to be on theASCENT team needs to be typically at the level of discipleship outlined below. However, we want to acknowledge that we are all on our own discipleship journeys and will at times fall short and need support - none of us is perfect and God’s mercy is abundant. However, to honour the young people we’re ministering to and serve them well, we’d ask that you consider whether you are consistently meeting the following expectations. If not, we would encourage you to get connected with community, find a Spiritual Director and aim to be at this level for when team recruitment opens next year. As well as the normal expectations of a Roman Catholic, much of which is captured in the Team Way of Life, we would like to specifically bring your attention to the following expectations of a team member on theASCENT:
